Cuilcagh to Cleenish: A Great Place

Cuilcagh to Cleenish: A Great Place provides unique opportunities for people to engage with the area’s built, natural, cultural and archaeological heritage. It develops new heritage trails, hosts cultural and heritage events and provides access to key sites of interest. Cuilcagh to Cleenish aims to be a connected place where local people are proud of their history and culture, and are active in creating sustainable development for their area which will be an exciting cultural destination where people are attracted to visit and explore.

Community Trails

Outdoor Recreation NI will create a networked trail plan for walkers, canoeists and cyclists within the Cuilcagh to Cleenish footprint area based upon existing trails and facilities, as well as to potential sites linked to heritage activities and sites developed through the project activity plan…

Funders

    The project has received £270,000 of funding from the National Lottery via the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) with additional funding provided by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland.  The HLF investment was made possible through the National Lottery’s ground-breaking ‘Great Place Scheme,’ with ‘Cuilcagh to Cleenish: A Great Place’ being one of only four projects in Northern Ireland to receive funding through this scheme

    Partners

      The Cuilcagh to Cleenish: A Great Place project is supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council. The partnership project is being delivered by Outdoor Recreation Northern Ireland (lead), Cleenish Community Association, Killesher Community Development Association and the Cuilcagh Lakelands Geopark (Fermanagh and Omagh District Council).
